I read reviews for all the art easels before buying this one. It was more expensive than a couple of the more popular double sided easels. I was specifically looking for sturdiness as I expect it to last years, and a quality chalk board which other easels tend to be skimpy on. We gave this to my daughter on her 2nd birthday. She's had it for 2 days so it still has the novelty factor going for it, but I think it will be a popular toy. She is average height for a 2yo girl, we have the easel set at the lowest setting (of 2 possible settings) and she can reach about 1/3rd of the way up. Here's what I like about it:

+Assembly was relatively easy. It helps to have two people to line up the screws/holes when mounting the easel to the base.
+It is very sturdy and good quality wood/plastic.
+After prepping the chalk board as instructed (rubbing it with chalk until coated, then wiping clean) it works well with both Crayola chalk and Melissa and Doug's jumbo triangular chalk using normal adult writing pressure. My 2yo can also make marks though they are much lighter.
+There is lots of storage on the easel.
+It comes with an eraser that works both on the chalk board and dry erase board.I think the differences in this KidKraft easel are it's sturdiness, storage space, and aesthetic quality.

There's nothing I dislike about the easel, but there are some things you should know:
-It does not fold up but it does fit nicely in a corner of a room.
-There is a way to attach the paper on the dry erase side, but not the chalk board side, though you could use tape.
-My 2yo can manage to open the snap lids on the paint containers. We haven't tried paint yet, partly for this reason.

Overall, no real complaints. The price is steep, but the product is very good. I expect we will have this product and use it for years so I think we will get our money's worth.

I was wondering if anyone could offer feedback on this product - the chalkboard specifically? Many of the easels out there - people complain that the chalkboards are cheap and don't hold the chalk. Thank you!
